Hello and welcome to the October Newsletter from hasta. hasta is the leading agency for events and wellbeing, catering for all your client entertainment requirements with a view to giving back at every opportunity with our charity partners central to all we do.
In a tumultuous time for rugby, it has been a blessed relief for us to focus on happier times with two of our biggest events to date. On 12th October, we welcomed a room full of our guests to Ramsey’s Bread Street Kitchen in London for an incredible lunch hosted by Alex Payne and the world’s most recognisable rugby referee and hasta ambassador, Nigel Owens. Nigel took an afternoon away from tending to his beloved farm and was his usual, charming self, answering questions from all comers about his most memorable games, how the game of rugby needs to adapt to suit growing health concerns and his own fascinating life and the impact he has had on people and vice versa.
It was during the lunch that we found out about Wasps being the latest club to face financial difficulties enough to threaten their existence so the chance to raise some money during the auctions, raffles and various other donating opportunities to help support the RPA and in turn, those players potentially facing life without a work for a while re-emphasised our ambition to give back to the sports and characters that make our industry what it is.
As the rugby landscape continued to change, looking gloomier by the day, it was poetic that exactly a week later, we had another room packed with enthusiasts as we hosted our first ever Autumn Preview lunch at The Brewery in Moorgate. A fantastic venue matched only by the calibre of the panel and entertainment on show. We had four of the nations of show this autumn represented on stage in England World Cup finalist and hasta ambassador, George Kruis; George’s former Saracens team-mate and Argentina international, Juan ‘Chip’ Figallo; World Cup winner with South Africa, Francois Louw; and finally, multiple World Cup winner and former All Black captain, Kieran Read.
Once again, the ship was guided ably by Alex Payne as attendees were treated to a fantastic three course lunch, there were more opportunities to support the game, the RPA, and Restart Rugby through auctions, silent and otherwise. There was music to set the tone and then, a hasta first, as each country was represented by a display on stage. An African tribal dance and song was followed by a traditional Maori war dance, then an Argentinian ballroom dance was finally wrapped up with an English Ballet display, all of which stunned our crowd in equal measure in awe with their own hypnotic performances. It was then onto the conversations as our panel of four giants of the game were steered expertly through their own careers, experiences and predictions of the Autumn’s upcoming games before they went and spent time at various tables for pictures and some more discreet conversations.
And so we move onto to new borders as hasta prepared to launch the First XV Suite in Murrayfield on Saturday 29th October as Scotland take on Australia in the first of their Autumn battles against the Southern Hemisphere and it promises to be electric. Our bespoke suite is kitted out to ensure the most authentic of experiences and to debut against Australia and New Zealand is exactly the sort of grandiosity befitting this outstanding space.
